Won't Ever Use Artiko Meal Delivery Again
We gave my mother the 7 day dinner plan, as she was now cooking for one after the death of my father. Our hope was that it would spark her appetite and give her a great meal with little or no work. We only learned at the end of 2009, and the early part of 2010 - and then had to force her to review the quality of the gift - that all seven meals had been low average quality.
She equated them with the less expensive TV dinners that she had at one time or another purchased from WalMart. In addition, we had communication issues between them and us while we were waiting for them to have been delivered. I wanted them delivered before her birthday, and finally they came on her birthday.
A week lat,er an email arrived from Artiko Chef saying the meals had been delivered, in answer to three emails I had sent to them way before her birthday. I wrote customer service at Artiko Chef hoping to get an apology, but it has been over two months and no response. I was very disappointed in the whole process and I won't ever use them again.

Artiko Chef is Just Okay
I am a senior citizen that has tried a few of the online meal companies. I had a hard time finding an interesting choice of meals that came in single servings, but I liked the larger print on the web site. I thought the meals I had were just okay. I have had some much better dinners from other services but this time I tried to save a few dollars. You get what you pay for.

TV Dinners Are Just As Good
The thing that prompted me the most to submit my review was the comment above comparing their meals to TV dinners. That is exactly what I thought of them too, and you get more selection at the supermarket.

Everything Was Okay
I received a "Something from Everyone" gift basket from my friends and co-workers at work after I had a baby. The chicken nuggets and the chicken cordon blue seemed to be very similar to what I could by at Costco. The broccoli potatoe medallions may have been the best thing in the package, not counting the little stuffed animal toy.
The chocolate chip cookies were okay, but I bake my own from a handed down family recipe so that may not be a fair comparison. While everything was okay, I wouldn't say they were bad like some other reviewers, but I wouldn't have paid $150 for it.

Serving Sizes Too Small and Too Salty
My husband and I some very hectic days days coming up at work, so I purchased some prepared meals from Artiko Chef. I just wanted some meals. I wasn't interested in buying a meal plan. I had to find the make your own meal plan to buy just the meals I wanted. I almost left their website twice. All of the meals serve two people, which is a joke, and the thing that upset me the most about this company.
The roast turkey dinner literally had two slices of turkey, a tiny scoop of stuffing, and a tiny scoop of potatoes that measured 1.5 inches wide. The green were nothing I couldn't get buying frozen green beans at the supermarket. I actually went to their website to verify this was supposed to be a serving for two people. You can get any frozen TV dinner at the market. The portion sizes you get don't look anything like the picture on the website and I feel like I got ripped off paying $16.99 for this.
Their lasagna meal was much better but equally as small. The lasagna measured 3 inches by 6 inches. So, my husband and I would have shared a 3 inch square of lasagna. This meal costs me $16.49, and I could have done much better ordering take out from the pizza parlor.
I would have paid $9.99 and received double the portion. I also bought a green pea soup, which was okay, and did have enough of a portion to split with my husband. It was a little watery, and not worth $12.99 in my opinion.

I like to track my shipping orders online so I can be home when the package arrives. Artiko Chef emailed me a confirmation of my order, with a link to track shipping, except the link didn't click anywhere.
Everything I tried from Artiko Chef was overwhelmingly salty. The turkey meal was almost inedible. The lasagna was bearable, as was the pea soup. The meals were so salty, I went to check the sodium values on their nutritional labels. They don't give you nutritional labels, at least there weren't any on the products I purchased.
I also had a hard time reheating the meals. The directions say to microwave at 50% power, in two minute increments, until the meal is defrosted. How am I supposed to know when the meal in the tray is defrosted? I basically reheated them until the bottom of the tray was hot and the cheese melted on the lasagna.
I did not find the serving sizes to be realistic, especially if you are buying a meal for man. When you think you are getting two meals for $16.99, that sounds like value. I didn't feel like I got any value at all, in price and with the quality of the meals. I understand it is perhaps unfair to evaluate a company based on just three meals, but I wouldn't recommend them. I wish I had found this website sooner.

Strange Flavor
I have tried a few meals from Artiko, and I agree the portion sizes are too small. I just happened to have the pea soup too. I subscribe to the believe that this meal should be "as thick as pea soup." Mine was watery and didn't have any potatoes. The cumin and coriander spices gave this a very strange flavor.
I was expecting something more traditional. I also agree their meals weren't worth what I paid for them. My wife had pea soup from a can, which at $2.69, was over $10 less than what I paid for this, and much better.
I gave Artiko a bronze medal because everything except the food and the value was good.
